Pokémon X and Y (Gen VI) Announced

Post by Opu on Tue Jan 08, 2013 8:46 am

It' about damn time this series moved away from sprites.

The games will use 3D models and environments instead of the more traditional sprites,
and the battles will resemble the console spinoffs in that the pokémon will react to being hit.
In other words, it actually looks really good.

The X and Y, along with the DNA in the logos, makes it seem like genetics will play a part in the games.
    Genesect, eat your heart out.

    The fire starter

    The water starter

    The PFFFT HAHAHAHAHAH

No seriously, Chespin is an abomination

    Legendary articuno

    Legendary zapdos

Everything else can be seen in the trailer linked above.

    Roller skates > Bikes

I figured this deserved its own thread, but feel free to move this into the general if I'm mistaken.

I agree that this is deserving of it's own thread.

This looks really cool. Every Generation has kinda had its own individual "theme", and like you said genetics will probably come into play at some point. But arguably that was the "theme" of gen 1, but that doesn't matter too much. I'm glad there's being a big overhaul on the graphics.

I'm honestly pretty excited for this already, unlike B/W2 which I bought kinda begrudgingly, and only because I couldn't emulate it well. I actually really like B/W2, but still. I'll be looking forward to any future news about these games.

Related: the starters have been getting shittier each Gen since 3.

It seems likely that the flying legendary will be the mascot for Y, and the legendary with antlers will be X's mascot.

    point..

Another possibility is that the X and Y represent dimensions, and the symbol on the logos represent the light spectrum. This might actually make more sense, considering the 3D gimmick.

Made some drawings on my new mon expectations.

Fire type: Volcanomon. Back the fuck up, Charizard and Growlithe. That fucker has got you beat with his 6th gen creativity.

Ghost type: Telephonekis. Gengar and others are no match for the spookiness that is this telephone. Competing with Chandelier for creepiest ghost pokemon, you have better watch your ass when you enter lavenderspook city in Pokemon X and Y.

Water type: Precipirain. Evolves into the new electric type...

Electric type: Thundercloudichu. Sticking with the traditional cheek pouches for electricity storage, this mon is looking to FUCK YOUR DAY UP.

Fighting type: Tyrone. First introduced in Gen 1 and further expanded upon in Gens 2 and 5, Tyrone is the ultimate fighting mon.
