I see a lot of good albums on that list, and tbh I don't know if I could come up with 20 albums that I even know anymore.

1)Darkside of the moon - Pink Floyd
    2)Marshall Mather's LP - Eminem
3)Running with scissors - Weird Al
    4)The Eminem Show - Eminem
5)Bad Hair Day - Weird Al
    6)The Wall - Pink Floyd
    7)Alapalooza - Weird Al
8)Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
    9)The Chronic - Dre
    10)Relapse - Eminem
    11)Recovery - Eminem
    12)Sublime's Greatest Hits - Sublime
    13)Mechanical Animals - Manson
14)You'll Rebel To Anything - Mindless Self Indulgence
    15)Master Of Puppets - Metallica
16)Off the deep end - Weird al
    17)The Resistance - Muse
    18)Greatest hits Pts 1 & 2 - 2Pac
19)Take off your pants and jaket - Blink 182
    20)S&M Pts 1 & 2 - Metallica

That was a strain, these are in no particular order really... I almost had to put in
    20) Middle of Nowhere - Hanson
because I was runnin outta albums and didn't wanna put in any more eminem or weird al or manson lol

    Music is hard.

I think The Wall has solidified as my favorite album of all time.

    1. The Wall-Pink Floyd
    2. Kid A-Radiohead
    3. Elephant-The White Stripes
    4. Quadrophenia-The Who
    5. White Album/The Beatles-The Beatles
    6. Sea Change-Beck
    7. Dark Side Of The Moon-Pink Floyd
    8. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band-The Beatles
    9. OK Computer-Radiohead
    10. Nevermind-Nirvana

    14. Living With War-Neil Young
    15. Beatles For Sale-The Beatles
    16. The Doors-The Doors
    17. Midnite Vultures-Beck
    18. Let It Bleed-The Rolling Stones
    19. All That You Can't Leave Behind-U2
    20. Ten-Pearl Jam

I think Let It Bleed, All that You Can't Leave Behind, and Ten should be a bit higher on that list (especially All That You Can't Leave Behind), but that's relatively accurate.
Broken Bells (self titled) should definitely be on that list too, and probably Brothers by The Black Keys as well. I dunno, it's hard for me to do top 20s with albums. I always leave something out.

    EDIT: Fixt

Re: Your Current Top 20 Favorite Albums

Post by Alex on Wed May 30, 2012 10:47 pm

The Following is a much less objective list of what I believe to be some of the best albums of all time. Of course, it's not completely unbiased; as you get further into the list it gets to be slightly more my opinion, and then the last six or so are just some of my favorite albums.

If anyone wants to get into some really good music, definitely give one of the top 24 a try. The bottom six are albums that I love, but might not necessarily be for everyone.

Half the reason for making this list is so I'll feel more sane when formulating my current favorite albums, as I know that I have given a mostly/partially unbiased list of what I think are some of the greatest albums I've ever heard. The bias comes from some of the ordering, the fact that I have not heard every good album ever, and the bottom six.

    1. Dark Side Of The Moon-Pink Floyd
    2. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band-The Beatles
    3. Let it Bleed-The Rolling Stones
    4. The Wall-Pink Floyd
    5. Sea Change-Beck
    6. Led Zeppelin IV-Led Zeppelin
    7. Elephant-The White Stripes
    8. Kid A-Radiohead
    9. White Album-The Beatles
    10. Quadrophenia-The Who
    11. All That You Can't Leave Behind-U2
    12. Sticky Fingers-The Rolling Stones
    13. Rubber Soul-The Beatles
    14. Nevermind-Nirvana
    15. OK Computer-Radiohead
    16. Comes A Time-Neil Young
    17. Wish You Were Here-Pink Floyd
    18. Revolver-The Beatles
    19. Ten-Pearl Jam
    20. Led Zeppelin II-Led Zeppelin
    21. Icky Thump-The White Stripes
    22. Beatles For Sale-The Beatles
    23. The Doors-The Doors
    24. The Bends-Radiohead
    25. Living With War-Neil young
    26. Broken Bells-Broken Bells
    27. If Not Now, When?-Incubus
    28. Midnite Vultures-Beck
    29. Join Us-They Might Be Giants
    30. Brothers-The Black Keys

And, without further ado, my completely biased, constantly changing top 5.
    1. Let It Bleed-The Rolling Stones
    2. Sticky Fingers-The Rolling Stones
    3. Led Zeppelin IV-Led Zeppelin
    4. Comes A Time-Neil Young
    5. Elephant-The White Stripes

One of the hardest decisions for me was trying to decide which Beatles album was arguably the best, so eventually I just caved and put Sgt. Peppers as the best, partially because I wasn't getting anywhere and Rolling Stone put Sgt. Peppers as the best album of all time.

For me, as Beatles albums go, I would say
    1. Rubber Soul
    2. White Album
    3. Sgt. Peppers
    4. Revolver
    5. Beatles For Sale
    6. Abbey Road

Well, those are the ones I've actually heard, at least.
It's hard for me to even put them into a list, because that means one album will end at the bottom, and I've loved all of them.

This time, I'll actually do my favorite albums, rather than just what I listened to that I thought was the best.

    1. Kid A-Radiohead
    2. After The Gold Rush-Neil Young
    3. Let It Bleed-The Rolling Stones
    4. Dark Side of the Moon-Pink Floyd
    5. Blood On The Tracks-Bob Dylan
    6. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band-The Beatles
    7. White Album-The Beatles
    8. The Wall-Pink Floyd
    9. Sticky Fingers-The Rolling Stones
    10. Highway 61 Revisited-Bob Dylan
    11. OK Computer-Radiohead
    12. In Rainbows-Radiohead
    13. Quadrophenia-The Who
    14. Elephant-The White Stripes
    15. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot-Wilco
    16. Who's Next-The Who
    17. Sea Change-Beck
    18. Abbey Road-The Beatles
    19. Rubber Soul-The Beatles
    20. Led Zeppelin IV-Led Zeppelin
    21. MTV Unplugged In New York-Nirvana
    22. Wish You Were Here-Pink Floyd
    23. Blonde On Blonde-Bob Dylan
    24. Broken Bells-Broken Bells
    25. The King of Limbs-Radiohead
    26. Odelay-Beck
    27. Revolver-The Beatles
    28. Amnesiac-Radiohead
    29. Icky Thump-The White Stripes
    30. Beatles For Sale-The Beatles

    EDIT: FIXT

After the top ten, the ordering is much less precise. I like Quadrophenia much more than Odelay, for instance.

Welp, I did it. My 100 favorite albums. I had to dig down deep into my past music habits. I will admit that the last twenty was hard for me, but I assure you that I have heard all of these albums more than 5 times. Here's a brief rundown:
    >100 times listened: 6 (Kid A, Broken Bells, OK Computer, Brothers, Guero, Abbey Road)
    50-100 times: 19
    25-50 times: 38
    10-25 times: 25
    5-10 times: 12

Luckily, I left the window open, so I didn't have to start over or just leave it as a failed list. Fixed.

I didn't put much thought into this so it's only 20.

Guh. I might try this again fully in the future when I want to actually put some effort into it.
